Overview
If changes to a data source cause saved prompt values to be invalid, the modern version of SAS Visual Analytics Viewer might display incorrect or unexpected results.
For example, suppose a report has a required prompt for Product Line, and the report is saved with the value Energy selected for the prompt. A user who does not have permission to see results for Energy views the report. The prompt resets to show the first value in the list of available values, which is Distribution. The modern version of SAS Visual Analytics Viewer incorrectly displays "The filter resulted in an empty set of data," and there are no results for Distribution.
If the user switches to a different prompt value, and then back to Distribution, then results are correctly displayed.
Depending on how the report is designed, the actual behavior might vary.

About the Fix for This Issue
After the hot fix is applied to 7.3, or if you are using 7.4 or later, the saved value indicates that it has no values. In the example, the drop-down list would show Energy (No Data) instead of automatically changing to Distribution.
You might also see (No Data) when row-level security is applied to the data. In this case, (No Data) can appear if the saved prompt value is not valid for the user who is currently logged in. For example, if the prompt is saved with the value F, but the user is only permitted to see M, then the prompt displays F (No Data).
To avoid seeing (No Data) in drop-down lists, you can make the prompt not required. Beginning with release 8.2, you also have the option to enable Initially select first item.
Related Issue
If your report includes report-level filters, required drop-down lists might show different values depending on when you change the report-level filter. For more information, see SAS Note 61226.
